Catalina Sea Camp offers dive classes from basic Open Water Certification all the way to Master Diver. Below is a list of our SCUBA courses. Please note that some courses have age and experience requirements.

Course 102: SCUBA Discovery

Diving 102 is designed to introduce potential divers to the underwater realm. This course consists of 6 water sessions: 4 SCUBA and 2 Skin Diving with one skin diving boat trip to an exciting new location to expand the diver's experience. Students will learn the basics of SCUBA and use SCUBA equipment.

This is a fun course that gives campers a chance to experience SCUBA diving. This course will prepare Sea Campers for Diving 103. Upon completion of this course the student will receive a CIMI certificate. This is NOT a NAUI certification course.

Prerequisites: Skin Diving experience strongly recommended. This class is designed for divers 12 - 14 years of age, who must meet medical requirements for SCUBA diving.

Log Book Fee - $16.00 (deducted from store account)

2 Class Periods

Course 103: Junior SCUBA Diver

The beautiful underwater world of Catalina Island is the perfect place to earn your SCUBA Certification. Diving 103 is our entry-level Certification course for divers ages 13 and 14.

Before you enroll in Diving 103 you need to have a high level of confidence in the water and the maturity to handle emergency situations. You must be in good health and be cleared to dive by a physician.

If you do not satisfy the basic requirements, it is best to enroll in Course 102: SCUBA Discovery. Divers under 15 who earn their Certification may dive only with Certified divers that are over 18. This course and Course 104: SCUBA Diver are identical courses except for the age difference.

Text Book Fee - $35.00 (deducted from store account)

4 Class Periods - 2 Water Class Periods & 2 Lecture Periods.

Course 104: SCUBA Diver

SCUBA is an exciting and fascinating way to look at the underwater world. CIMI offers SCUBA classes to hundreds of divers each summer. SCUBA Diver is our most popular course for entry level certification.

To enroll in SCUBA Diver you need to be comfortable in the water, meet SCUBA medical requirements, and have basic math and science background to understand the lecture portion of the course.

SCUBA Diver consists of 15 hours of classroom lecture and 24 hours of water work. After passing a comprehensive written final and a water checkout dive by the instructor, you will enjoy two boat dives to new locations and receive a full-certification card issued by NAUI.

Prerequisites: 15 or older with Skin Diving experience and must meet medical requirements for Scuba diving (Skin Diving or Skin Diving UW Photography may be taken concurrently)

Text Book Fee - $35.00 (deducted from store account)

4 Class Periods - 2 Water Classes & 2 Lecture Periods

Course 105: Underwater Ecologist

Diving 105 expands the Jr. Openwater diver's experience with a variety of exciting dives to different locations by boat and a night dive. Divers will learn the local species of marine life and be able to compare and contrast the organisms of different habitats including the kelp forest, the rocky bottom, the sandy bottom and the ocean at night.

Marine conservation and dive practices that have minimal impact on the environment will be stressed in this course. The divers will receive an Underwater Ecologist Certification Card upon successful completion of this course (it will be a Junior Specialty Card for divers under 15).

Prerequisite: 12 to 14 years of age with a Jr. Openwater Certification (Diving 103). May not be taken concurrently.
